I have been counseling for 10+ years.
I earned my Master degree in School Counseling from National University. My soul purpose why I went into counseling was to help others achieve a healthy balance between their social/emotional/mental well-being.
Growing up in Inglewood Ca, I was exposed to certain traumas, mental illnesses, and broken homes. I just knew that there were better ways to handle certain situations and events that could hinder a person's growth.
Playing sports was my outlet (self-care) from the inner city pains and I was able to go to college (Fresno State) where I played football and earned a B.A. in Communication. I met my wife in college and now we have 3 children (2 boys and 1 girl) and we have been married for 15+ years.
As a black man I understand that our culture deals with different kinds of trauma. With those traumas comes behaviors and emotions that are hard to pin point the root of the problem. The benefits of counseling is to get to the root of the behaviors and emotions so the person can be free to live their life unrestricted by the effects of the trauma.
